Bird Law: A player-versus-player non-transitive dice game. It works similarly to how rock-paper-scissors works. Players simultaneously roll polyhedral dice (called Lawyering Dice) in order to gain points (called Gavels). The first player to reach 10 gains a favourable strike.
Lawyering Dice Elements: Tit-for-tat, Jabber-jaw, Bombshell.
The Gist of Play: A round called a Trial has two phases..
Phase 1: On the call of Bird Law, both players roll one of three dice types. Resolve the rolls and set their Gavels accordingly.
Phase 2: Repeat the process using one of the two dice. Resolve the roll, ending the Trial. Reset the dice and continue to the next Trial.
Various Other Lawyerings.
- Overrule-chain
- Filibuster (mirror match)
- Filibuster Token (FT)
- Plead the Fifth
- Wild Card
- Getting Satisfied
The game came about as part of going through the book The Art of Game Design. It's always sunny's Bird Law seemed like a good fit for the game mechanics. Most of the game is thinking of "the implications" which makes you consider your next move. I, too, as Chrundle have dyslexia so likely some grammatical errors.
